Hello!

Welcome to The River Shack.

We are Will and Faye and we have been running the Shack since Spring 2019. Our journey has had its ups and downs with COVID thrown at us in our second year of business and a huge flood hitting us in 2023, but we are standing stronger than ever and we love it here!

Since meeting at Edinburgh University we have spent years working together in weird and wonderful hospitality jobs. From a ski chalet in the Swiss Alps, to the Scottish Highlands where we catered for hungry sporting parties, to the Himalayas in Darjeeling where we managed a small boutique hotel, and then finally to South Devon where we managed the Gara Rock restaurant before eventually finding The River Shack. 

It was always our dream to have our own café and we love the lifestyle that it allows us – meeting new and familiar faces each day, working in the most beautiful location, getting caught up in the holiday spirit watching people enjoying themselves in the sunshine, and we are lucky to have a brilliant team working alongside us. 

You are likely to find Will meeting and greeting you as you arrive at The Shack and Faye chasing their two tiny children and mad cocker spaniel around the waterside.

At The River Shack we are not interested in fuss or formality. Our focus is to create a relaxed and welcoming environment and to provide delicious, well sourced food and drink. Feel free to rock up in your wetsuit or your high heels... Anything goes!
